The SC Residential Builders Commission voted to accept original license bonds and continuation certificates in electronic format at the February 12, 2020 meeting.

Licensees and registrants may upload the bond or continuation certificate via this link: https://eservice.llr.sc.gov/DocumentSubmission. You will be prompted to login to your e-service account.

Bond Requirement Information:

Builders required to have $15,000 bond on file at all times.

Electrical, HVAC and Plumbing

When the cost of an undertaking performed by a residential specialty contractor for an individual property owner exceeds five thousand dollars, the residential specialty contractor must obtain an executed bond with a surety in an amount approved by the commission.

A surety bond in the amount of $10,000 is required (original bond on the current bond form located on the Commission website) signed by you with the power of attorney attached. If the Commission has an original bond on the current bond form on file in its office, the staff can then accept a Bond Continuation Certificate in the future. The bond must be issued in your name as principal and not in a company or business name (unless it is a Certificate of Authorization Bond).

When the cost materials and labor for an undertaking performed by a residential specialty contractor for an individual property owner exceeds five thousand dollars, the residential specialty contractor shall obtain an executed bond with a surety in an amount approved by the commission and shall furnish a signed original to the commission.

A surety bond in the amount of $5,000 is required (original bond on the current bond form located on the Commission website) signed by you with the power of attorney attached. If the Commission has an original bond on the current bond form on file in its office, the staff can then accept a Bond Continuation Certificate in the future. The bond must be issued in your name as principal and not in a company or business name (unless it is a Certificate of Authorization Bond).
