Licensure

All individuals engaging in dietetics or tele-dietetics must hold a valid license with the South Carolina Panel for Dietetics. A person is qualified to receive a certificate of licensure if the following requirements are met:

  • Submission of a completed application and payment of licensure fee(s).
  • Proof of current registration status by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Official copy of academic transcript from all degree granting institutions of higher education. Must hold a baccalaureate or master’s degree in human nutrition, nutrition education, foods and nutrition, public health nutrition, or an equivalent major course of study from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Is familiar with the laws governing the practice of dietetics in the state of South Carolina. Click here to review Board Laws and Policy.

Dietitian Licensure Requirements

If applying by Endorsement, applicant must hold a current, active, and unrestricted license under the laws of another state or territory. Applicant must submit verification of licensure directly from the state/territory board of each state/territory in which they are licensed to practice.

If applying by Examination, applicant shall provide evidence of passing the examination for dietitians approved by the Panel.

Application and fee will be kept on file for twelve (12) months; thereafter, a new application and fee are required.
