Renew My License
2026-2027 Operator and Well Driller license renewals are now open.
The deadline to renew 2026-2027 Operator and Well Driller licenses, without penalty is June 30, 2026. Licenses not renewed by that deadline must submit the renewal application, renewal fee and a late fee of $200.
Any license not renewed within 365 days of the date on which the license expires shall be considered lapsed and declared nonrenewable.
To access the online renewal software, you must have a valid email on file with the Board. If you do not currently have an email address on file with the Board or you need to change your email address, please email the Board at Contact.Environmental@llr.sc.gov your name, license number, last 5 digits of your social security number and your current email address.

All licenses must be renewed separately by license credential number; however, the online renewal application process features a proxy payment link. This will enable the permitted employee or licensee to email a link to a third party (such as their employer) for payment. For privacy and security purposes, the third party will only have access to information such as name, license type and number and payment amount. The licensee is responsible for following up with the proxy to ensure payment is made timely for their renewal.
- Biological Wastewater Treatment Operator Licenses renewed/postmarked on or before June 30, 2026, fee is $30.
- Water Distribution System Operator Licenses renewed/postmarked on or before June 30, 2026, fee is $30.
- Physical/Chemical Wastewater Licenses renewed/postmarked on or before June 30, 2026, fee is $30.
- Water Treatment Plant Operator Licenses renewed/postmarked on or before June 30, 2026, fee is $30.
- Bottled Water Licenses renewed/postmarked on or before June 30, 2026, fee is $30.
- Well Driller Licenses renewed/postmarked on or before June 30, 2026, fee is $50.
Renewal applications postmarked on or after July 1, 2026, shall be subject to a late fee of two hundred dollars ($200.00), in addition to the renewal fee. Any license not renewed within 365 days of the date on which the license expired shall be considered lapsed and declared nonrenewable.
If you have more than one license to renew, you must renew each license separately.
Operators and Well Drillers must obtain twelve (12) hours of continuing education (CE's), or pass the appropriate examination for license grade between July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2027. You must be able to show written proof of the continuing education hours you received during the two-year renewal period July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2027.

Per Regulation 51-4F, Individuals who are at least sixty-two (62) years old and have thirty (30) or more years of licensed experience may request a waiver of the continuing education requirements by submitting a waiver form to the board along with your renewal form and fee.

- Does the Board pre-approve courses?
The Board does not pre-approve courses. Information regarding course criteria for approval can be found at: /env/ce.aspx.
- Who is exempt from Continuing Education requirements?

- I completed a CE course. How do I report it?
Licensees are responsible for tracking their Continuing Education hours and having documentation of those hours for a CE Audit.
After the renewal period, the Board will conduct a random audit for compliance with the CE requirement. If you are selected in the audit, you will be notified by the Board to submit proof of your CE hours.
- Can I take CE courses in other states and get credit for them?
CE courses may be taken in states outside South Carolina. The courses must meet the requirements found in Board’s Continuing Education Guidelines for operators to receive credit.
