2027-2029 Individual License Renewal Fee: $200

2027-2029 Certificate of Authorization Renewal Fee: $400

Any license not renewed by January 31, 2027, shall be considered lapsed and a reinstatement application, reinstatement fee of $250 and proof of twenty (20) continuing education hours must be submitted.

Individual landscape architects must have twenty (20) hours of continuing education. You must be able to show written proof of the continuing education hours you received during the two-year renewal period February 1, 2025 - January 31, 2027.

Per Regulation 76-6(D)(4), Individuals who are at least sixty (60) years old and have thirty (30) or more years of licensed experience may request a waiver of the continuing education requirements by submitting a waiver form to the board along with your renewal form and fee.

1. 1. Does the Board pre-approve courses?
   The Board does not pre-approve courses. Information regarding continuing education can be found here.

2. Who is exempt from Continuing Education requirements?
   Per Regulation 76-6(D), individuals meeting the following requirements are exempt from the continuing education requirement:
• New licensees are exempt for their first renewal period.
• A licensee serving on temporary active military duty in the armed forced of the United States for a period of time exceeding 120 consecutive days in a year shall be exempt from continuing education for that year.
• Licensees experiencing physical disability, illness, or other extenuating circumstances may submit supporting documentation for a reduction or waiver of requirements for review by January 1 of the renewal year.
• Individuals who are at least sixty (60) years old and have thirty (30) or more years of licensed experience may apply for a waiver of the continuing education requirement.
• Licensees who are Board approved for Emeritus Status. To qualify for Emeritus Status, the individual must be sixty-five (65) or older, licensed for thirty (30) or more years, and completely retired from practice. The application for Emeritus Status is available here.

3. I completed a CE course. How do I report it?
   Licensees are responsible for tracking their Continuing Education hours and having documentation of those hours for a CE Audit.
   
   After the renewal period, the Board will conduct a random audit for compliance with the CE requirement. If you are selected in the audit, you will be notified by the Board to submit proof of your CE hours.

4. Can I take CE courses in other states and get credit for them?
   Yes. CE courses may be taken in states outside South Carolina.
