Application and Education Review for Licensure as a Professional Counselor or Professional Counselor - Associate and for Licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist or Marriage and Family Therapy - Associate

On August 1, 2003 the South Carolina Licensure Board contracted with the Center for Credentialing and Education, Inc. (CCE) for the distribution of all applications and application materials for Licensure as a Professional Counselor or Professional Counselor - Associate and for Licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist or Marriage and Family Therapy - Associate; contracted with CCE to accept the completed applications; and authorized CCE to do the application review and education credentialing of all completed applications. CCE is a professional credentialing service and is a part of NBCC, the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc.

Applicants for licensure need to contact CCE at their toll free number or by fax or e-mail or go to their website to request an application and the application booklet.

Applicants will submit completed applications to CCE, pay the required application fee to them, have all application documents sent to CCE, and have their application reviewed by CCE. No applications or application fees will be submitted to the South Carolina Licensing Board.

Applications will be reviewed daily by the professional credentialing staff at CCE. CCE will be available daily to answer questions concerning your application and its status. Applications will be considered valid for up to three years. Upon completion of all requirements and approval, licensure will be granted by the South Carolina Licensing Board.

The South Carolina Licensing Board has also contracted with CCE to approve candidate's eligibility to register for the national examinations that are given by NBCC and PES. Please contact CCE regarding approval for examination registration.
