South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners

ACUPUNCTURE LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

The following are the basic requirements for obtaining licensure to practice acupuncture in South Carolina. Applicants should consult the Acupuncture Act of the South Carolina Medical Practice Act to obtain the detailed requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

Acupuncturists

  • Proof of current NCCAOM certification

Detoxification Specialists

  • Proof of current NADA certification

  • Proof of successful completion of Clean Needle Technique Course

Auricular Therapists

  • Proof of current NADA certification

  • Proof of successful completion of Clean Needle Technique Course

  • Proof of certification as having been trained to utilize auricular points only
